The art, book and photograph dealer Pierre Spake died on 4 September 2026 aged 72 years. Pierre had been dealing since 1979 and for many years was a regular exhibitor at the London Photograph Fair. He published regular catalogues of photographs, manuscripts and books available for sale. Pierre was a frequent buyer at auction and adept at spotting a lot that had been under catalogued or one which he could properly research and add value to. He also showed at the British Art Fair.
Pierre Alan Spake was born in Surrey in 1953 and married Anna in 1978. During his career he operated variously from London, Ware and Great Bircham, near Kings Lynn, He ran a gallery in Great Bircham where he was also a parish councillor and a member of the bowls club. Latterly his collecting and dealing interests had focused on bare-fist boxing history.
Condolences are with Anna, daughter Claire, son James, grandchildren and wider family.
