  • Shapes of bottles of the period could suggest the bottle's content. I immediately thought 'ginger beer' being easily and cheaply 'brewed' from an ongoing yeasted 'ginger beer plant'. Except, I wouldn't know if ginger beer was sold in the slim-necked bottles the street vendor of the photo appears to be selling. Although, on further look on web re period bottle shapes one notes mineral and soda water bottles dispensed2768209128?profile=original2768209032?profile=original in tall necked bottles.
