  • Thank you, Charles-

    Just an amazing image- Congratulations!

I am just obsessed with her images, I own a large  10 x 13 inches "And Enid Sang"  from the Tennyson series,, signed and dated,

and a cabinet card of ? Mary Hiller. It is not known.  I would like your opinion on this.

If you look though my blog posts, you will find both of these images.

I look forward to discussing these photos with you.

    Best wishes,

    David

  • David - thank you for your interest. Yes I obtained the photograph at autction 2 years ago. The size is 10 x 13 inches, using her larger camera around 1870. It is not autographed, and therefore not registered, and there are no blind stamps. I am therefore assuming this is a unique image, and that is why it is so special to me. For me Mary Hillier is my favorite model. It has all the elements I adore: soft focus, the flowing hair, the extended neck, the timeless robes, the insertion of the flower, etc. I have no information on provenance. Ford in his catalogue does mention the name "Laurence Elvin" but I have not been able to trace this name - I believe he was the person who provided the b/w photograph proving it's existence, so I was wondering if he may have been associated with an auction house that sold it many years ago. I would love to find out.
  • Just outstanding, Charles! Do you own this? What is the size?

    Best, David
