An unmounted albumen photo I acquired recently - not sure of photographer. Oval stamp on back (1-1/8" x 3/4") identifies the photo from "Pearce, Jeweller & Watch Maker, Bridge Street. Statford-upon-Avon". Narrow strip of text in lower left hand corner reads, "294 Shakespeare's House". I would be interested to learn from other members the approximate date of this image and any info on the photographer - perhaps Pearce was the photographer. Structure is missing the gables that are part of the current structure.

If you have visited Stratford you will know that the birthplace looks nothing like this now - if you look at the image you will see that the birthplace at this time was in fact two residences - the one with the sign above the window was a pub - the birthplace was 'restored' for the 1864 anniversary of Shakespeares birth - so this image will be late 1850's or early 1860's .Pearce is more likely to have been a retailer than a photographer , but i am not sure of that
