EARLY McKENNAS

This shot features my grandfather's generation when they were young in about 1910. It would have been taken in the family home in the county of Cavan in Ireland, perhaps by a travelling photographer, possibly a portraitist from the county capital who would have augmented his sales by going out to more remote parts of his patch.The setting is the yard of the house which house a merchants business with a medium sized farm attached and you can see the efforts the photographer has gone to dress the scene as with the hung blanket and the arranged branches.The original is wonderfully sharp and in very good condition.The very handsome older brother in the centre was Ulick who was destined for a distinguished medical career. Alas, just a couple of years later he was felled by TB.
